Suspect in custody after woman found assaulted, tied up inside her home
(PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich.) A man is in the Kent County Jail facing multiple charges after a 65-year-old Belmont woman was found assaulted and bound in her home on Friday morning.
The woman was found tied up in her home near Van Dam Dr and Packer Dr by an acquaintance around 10 a.m.
The Kent County Sheriff's office says the male suspect was armed with a pistol and threatened to kill the woman.
He also claimed to be a "hit man".
According to KSCO, the woman became unconscious at one point during the incident after being choked by the suspect.
The suspect stole several items from the home including credit cards and then used them to buy things at nearby stores.
Investigators said this was a targeted incident.
Statewide agencies were notified of the incident and the suspects vehicle was found abandoned in Van Buren County on a two-track.
He was arrested on Sunday afternoon when KSCO found him walking near Pettis Ave and Knapp St. in Ada Township.
KSCO says he's facing charges of Armed Robbery, Home Invasion 1st Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder or by Strangulation, and two counts of felony firearm offenses.
He's expected to be arraigned in 63rd district court.
