Air travelers no longer need negative COVID test before entering U.S.

(NATIONAL) If you're traveling abroad by plane this summer, you no longer have to show a negative COVID-19 test or a recovery from COVID-19 to re-enter the U.S.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) made the announcement on Friday.

The change went into effect on Sunday June 12.

Reasons for rescinding the order included COVID-19 vaccines, therapeutics, and high rates of vaccine and infection-induced immunity among the United States population.

The CDC said it will reassess the need for testing requirements in the future if necessary.
